Black & Decker Cordless Hammer Drill Review (EPC148BK 14.4V NiCd)

The Black & Decker EPC148BK has been designed for DIY tasks around the home and outdoor repairs. It is quite a powerful 14.4v cordless drill driver that can cope with drilling into wood, metal, or masonry.

Features:
Hammer action for drilling into concrete and masonry
2 gears – high speed for drilling into wood and steel, low speed for controlled driving
24 torque clutch – for screwdriving into a variety of materials with different screw sizes
Variable speed
Reverse switch
Extra battery, kitbox
Spring-loaded slide pack battery system

Having tested this drill extensively, it does an OK job.  The only complaints that might be made about it is the power of the drill itself which often seems too weak and also the battery life, which is pretty short.

If you’re storing this for long periods between uses, expect that the battery will likely have lost quite a bit of charge.  It’s therefore recommended to always be charging the extra battery when one is in use.
